I just so happen to love them all, but I'll attempt to choose one song from each soundtrack which is definitive for each game, and each composer's style. From the most atmospheric Myst soundtrack, this song has the long, droning notes heard all throughout the game, but it also serves as a bridge to the climactic and tribal "Moiety Theme." Even if you've never played Myst, this song evokes the serene but unsettling ambiance the game is best known for. Myst III: Exile - "The Dilemma" by Jack Wall. Other recommended tracks: "Atrus' Study", "Saavedro's Theme" The first half of the song has the cinematic, bombastic choir and percussion from the Main Theme, and the other half has softer, familiar "Myst-like" tones. Myst IV: Revelation - "Jungle Landing" by Jack Wall. From the most widely-varied soundtrack, this song has three distinct sections.
The first is a short and exciting orchestral piece which plays during the "landing." The middle section is simultaneously haunting and fast-paced, with a choir underlying the jungle sounds. Other recommended tracks: "Lakeside", "Nearest Island" The choir continues into the "Myst-like" last section, which hearkens back to Achenar's Theme from the first Myst game. Myst V: End of Ages - "Noloben Lab" by Tim Larkin. Larkin, who specializes in world music, manages to make all his music for Myst particularly other-worldly. Other recommended tracks: "Descent", "Villa" This song simply captures that myst-erious essence of an Age not like the other ones. Myst Online: Uru Live - "Er'cana Harvester" by Tim Larkin.
